What tradelines actually do — and don't do

Tradelines are one tool in a broader credit strategy. We help you understand how they report, when they fit, and when they don't.

The honest overview

An authorized user (AU) tradeline is an established credit account you're added to as an authorized user. The account's history reports to your file, even though you're not legally responsible for the debt.

Used correctly, tradelines can add positive data points to a thin file. Used incorrectly — or on a file where they don't fit — they can be a waste of time and money.

What we cover in a consultation

  • Whether tradelines are appropriate for your current file
  • Which cards actually report to all three bureaus
  • Realistic timing and what to expect
  • How tradelines interact with disputes, utilization, and new applications
