Credit Score Ranges Explained

What FICO and VantageScore ranges mean for real-world lending decisions.

Both major scoring models use a 300–850 range but describe the tiers slightly differently.

FICO - 800–850: Exceptional - 740–799: Very Good - 670–739: Good - 580–669: Fair - 300–579: Poor

VantageScore 3.0/4.0 - 781–850: Excellent - 661–780: Good - 601–660: Fair - 500–600: Poor - 300–499: Very Poor

Lenders set their own thresholds. A mortgage lender's "good" is not a credit card issuer's "good." Knowing your tier for each product matters more than a single label.
